            Buddy, the owner, has been a serious modeler for more than thirty-five years, building more than twenty-five HO and Lionel layouts. For the past thirteen years, Buddy has also owned three railroad hobby stores in the city of Hurst near Fort Worth, Texas.  Through his stores, he has sponsored several hobby clubs, providing technical guidance and modeling products.  Through all this experience, he has learned that the hobbyist needs not only a source for buying hobby products, but also guidance from a reliable source in making modeling a fun and productive experience.  He encourages his customers to ask questions and does not hesitate to suggest alternatives that could save them time and money.


Full service hobby store!


          Model Train Crossing stocks a large selection of the most popular merchandise and supplies available from the major manufacturers and suppliers.  Visitors of the store can usually find their selections among the wide cross-section of brands in any gauge.  What is not on the shelf can be quickly acquired through special order.  Buddy has built a reliable network of sources by which he can acquire some of the most unusual requests from his customers.

            Store merchandise includes collectibles from Lionel, American Flyer and other brands. When a visitor is looking for a particular collectible not in the store, Buddy can usually suggest a source or possibly locate the item himself for the customer.

            Repair service is also available.  Repairs are done either in the store or at one of several repair sources available to Model Train Crossing.  An estimate of the cost of the repair is provided to the customer before repairs are done.

            Being a hobbyist himself, Buddy’s goal is to provide his customers the kind of service he would expect from any hobby store.  He wants his customers to have the most enjoyment possible from the hobby.  To achieve this, Buddy will make every effort to provide the item requested, answer all questions asked and to make recommendations that will enhance customer satisfaction.  Whether the customer is in the store or on the telephone, fax or Internet, Model Train Crossing wants to be your favorite hobby store.




Prices:  Model Train Crossing has standardized across all methods of ordering, whether in the store or ordered via telephone, fax, internet.  From time to time, discounts or sale prices may be advertised and will apply to all methods of ordering.


Payment methods:  We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express,Discover, checks, money orders and bank drafts.


Shipping and handling Charges:  USA-contiguous 48 states - $7.95  | Hawaii, Alaska and foreign countries: $8.95 plus actual carrier charges. Surcharges imposed by some foreign countries will also be added.  Exceptional items (bulky, heavy, odd sized cartons, etc) will be charged additional fees.  No C.O.D. shipments, please.


Insurance Liability:  US Postal Service (US Mail): $600 maximum per carton shipped (Great Britain, $1200 maximum)  | United Parcel Service (UPS):  Declared value determined by invoice amount.


Layaways:  Only merchandise purchased for resale by Model Train Crossing may be sold on layaway.  Minimum layaway purchase is $200 with 25% down payment and 25% of total amount payable every thirty (30) days.  Layaway sales are final.  Full payment within ninety (90) days is required.  We will attempt to notify you before the deadline.  However, all payments will be forfeited after ninety (90) days from the date of sale.


Merchandise Hold:  Local customers (within 100 miles of store): 3 business days  | USA 50 contiguous states: 5 business days  | All other locations: 7 days.  Merchandise must be purchased or put on layaway after the Hold period.  Your telephone number will be required to place merchandise on Hold.


Consignments/Trades:  Model Train Crossing may agree to sell your item on consignment.  If your item does not sell, Model Train Crossing may make an offer to purchase your item or to trade store owned merchandise in exchange for your item.  The market value of your merchandise stated via telephone, fax or email is an estimate only.  Exact value can only be determined when your merchandise is received and assessed visually by Model Train Crossing.


Sales Tax:  Texas sales tax will be on all orders made by Texas residents.


Return Policy:


Damaged Merchandise:  Merchandise, which is damaged during shipping, must be reported to the carrier when received.  In most cases, the carrier will honor no claims unless the damage is noted on the receiving document.  Model Train Crossing will make every effort to replace the damaged merchandise if you follow the following procedure:


1.      Upon delivery from the carrier, immediately inspect the outside of the box(es).  If there is any sign of damage, make a note on the carrier’s document before you sign for the receipt.  Open the box(es) immediately and inspect the merchandise inside.  If there is no damage to the merchandise, there is no need to continue.  Enjoy your new merchandise.

2.      Retain all packing material, including the carton(s).

3.      Make sure you have the shipper document number(s).

4.      Notify Model Train Crossing as soon as possible and report the damage.  Model Train Crossing will give you appropriate instructions.
